These days it’s very rare to see a 9 pin serial port on a PC. On laptops they just don’t exist anymore.
However, a lot of PC related hardware still relies on 9 pin serial connections. So what do you do? Get a USB serial port adaptor. This allows you to connect your 9 pin serial lead to a USB port. Creating a virtual com port.
The next problem – the market place is full of such adaptors that just don’t work. They will either provide no communication or constant disconnects.
That’s where our adaptor comes in. Designed with quality chipsets and circuitry to provide a connection as good as one you would expect on an older PC with a serial port.
If you’ve already wasted time on inferior adaptors you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about. Put us to the test or your money back.
Our adaptor uses the FTDI chipset. This is the gold standard in USB Serial conversion. Other leads not only use cheaper chips but also have poor driver support and no voltage shifter ICs to help on newer PCs using lower voltages.
Note you would connect your peripheral device to this via a standard serial cable (not included). If you require a USB/Serial converter lead which you can plug directly into your peripheral device please see our direct cable here, with thumb screws. No need for the additional serial cable.
Features:
* FTDI Chipset
* Ferrite Ferrule built in to prevent transmission interference
* LED status indicators for Power, RX and TX.
* 1.5m Cable length
